The Enforcement Directorate has issued a new notice to Rathin Ghosh, West Bengal’s Food and Supplies Minister, for questioning in the multi-crore municipalities recruitment case. Ghosh is required to appear at the Enforcement Directorate’s office in Salt Lake on May 6. Despite previous notices, Ghosh had cited campaign commitments for not attending earlier.
State Fire Services Minister Sujit Bose recently faced questioning at the Enforcement Directorate’s office in Salt Lake regarding the same case. Ghosh had previously been interrogated by the Enforcement Directorate in October 2023 and January 2024 in connection with the municipal recruitment corruption case. Raids were also conducted at the residences of both Ghosh and Bose during the investigation.
The Enforcement Directorate’s probe into the municipalities’ job case originated from information discovered during a search at the residence of Trinamool Congress-linked promoter Ayan Shil. Subsequently, the Central Bureau of Investigation also launched an investigation into the matter, uncovering the involvement of several politically influential individuals, including state ministers and ruling party members.
