Lok Sabha member Engineer Rashid will be granted interim bail to participate in the ‘Chehlum’ ceremony of his late father, as confirmed by the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) spokesperson. The High Court’s previous orders mandate Rashid’s release for five days to partake in the 40th-day religious observance of his father, Khazir Mohammad Sheikh.
Engineer Rashid is expected to join his family, relatives, and supporters in observing the traditional ‘Chehlum’ in Srinagar. Following his arrival on Thursday morning, Rashid will be present in Srinagar from Friday afternoon onwards to receive condolences and show solidarity with his bereaved family.
Despite his ongoing detention in Delhi’s Tihar Jail due to a terror-related money laundering case, Rashid expressed his inability to address constituents’ concerns and announced his resignation from the Lok Sabha. However, his party leaders in Srinagar emphasized that Rashid’s resignation would require the consent of the people in his Baramulla constituency.
