England’s white ball captain, Harry Brook, expressed his support for Pakistani players amid reports suggesting they may be overlooked by Indian-owned franchises in the upcoming Hundred auction on March 12. Brook, speaking before England’s T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8s match against Sri Lanka, emphasized the talent and crowd-pulling abilities of Pakistani cricketers.
Brook highlighted Pakistan’s rich cricketing history and the potential contributions of the 50 to 60 Pakistani players in the auction. He stated that the absence of Pakistani players would be a loss for the tournament and its competitiveness. The cricketer urged for the inclusion of Pakistani players to enhance the overall quality of the competition.
Reports indicate that 63 male and four female cricketers, including most members of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad, have registered for The Hundred auction. Concerns have arisen over the potential exclusion of Pakistani players from teams with Indian investments, such as MI London, Manchester Super Giants, Southern Brave, and SunRisers Leeds.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan has urged the England and Wales Cricket Board to intervene following speculations that Indian Premier League franchises might not consider Pakistani players in the auction. Vaughan emphasized the importance of inclusivity in sports and called for swift action to address the situation.
