England have bolstered their squad for the ongoing ODI series against India by bringing back pace-bowling all-rounder Brydon Carse, who has recovered from wrist and elbow injuries. Carse, aged 30, rejoins the national team after a period of absence, having impressed selectors with his performances for Durham in the Vitality Blast. His return offers England an extra pace bowling option as they face India in the series.
This marks Carse’s first return to the ODI squad since November 2025 when he played against New Zealand in Wellington. Following a successful rehabilitation, the seam-bowling all-rounder is now in contention for international duty. England revealed the squad update on Tuesday, with Carse being part of a team led by captain Harry Brook.
Having debuted in 2021, Carse has become a key all-round player for England, taking 34 wickets in 30 ODIs at an average of 40.44. He has also contributed with the bat, scoring 264 runs at an average of 17.60. The ongoing ODI series against India commenced at Edgbaston, with upcoming matches scheduled at Sophia Gardens and Lord’s.
England anticipates that Carse’s comeback will enhance their bowling options, following a successful T20I series against India. His pace, bounce, and batting skills make him a valuable asset as England aims to continue their winning momentum in the 50-over format.
