The England Women’s cricket team has changed its pre-season training camp location from the UAE to Pretoria, South Africa. This decision was made due to rising tensions in the Middle East following recent military actions in the Gulf region. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had initially planned for the team to train in the UAE but had to cancel the trip due to security concerns.

The ECB also called off the England Lions’ series in the UAE involving Pakistan Shaheens for the same reasons. England Women will now head to South Africa for an extended training program and a five-match T20 series scheduled from March 10 to March 27. This tour is crucial preparation for the team ahead of the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

The players will be split into two squads for the training camp, competing against each other in the T20 series. Team Heyhoe Flint, named after Rachael Heyhoe Flint, will be led by England vice-captain Charlie Dean. On the other hand, Team Brittin, named after Carole Hodges Brittin, will be captained by national captain Nat Sciver-Brunt. Both squads include experienced players and will be guided by respective coaches.

England head coach Charlotte Edwards will supervise both squads during the training program and matches.
