Estranged National Conference Lok Sabha member, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, announced his participation in the party protest at Jantar Mantar, highlighting the significance of restoring Article 370 of the Constitution. He stressed the need for a prolonged and well-organized movement, advocating for the reinstatement of constitutional safeguards predating 2019.
Aga Ruhullah emphasized that a singular protest event would not suffice, urging for a sustained political initiative that encompasses broader issues beyond statehood. He underscored the importance of addressing the grievances of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the rights and protections crucial for the region’s residents.
The MP raised concerns regarding the challenges faced by the youth post-2019, emphasizing the necessity of justice for enduring peace. He pointed out issues related to land rights, employment, and reservation policies, alleging that locals were being unjustly deprived of their entitlements. Aga Ruhullah highlighted alleged systemic injustices affecting rural areas like Pulwama, impacting agriculture and livelihoods.
Reiterating his stance, Aga Ruhullah emphasized that achieving “permanent peace” necessitates justice rather than symbolic gestures. He criticized the unmet political and administrative commitments, suggesting that improved governance could alleviate tensions but unresolved issues continue to fuel public discontent.
