European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald and 2019 Open champion Shane Lowry are set to participate in the second edition of the India Championship. The tournament, with a prize of $4 million, will take place at the Delhi Golf Club from October 15 to 18, 2026. It is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).
Donald, who led Team Europe to Ryder Cup victories in 2023 and 2025, will be making his second appearance in Delhi after debuting last year. He is one of the few European captains to achieve wins both at home and away Ryder Cups. Shane Lowry, who finished tied for third in the inaugural edition, will also be returning to the Indian capital aiming to better his previous performance.
The tournament is expected to feature top European players like defending champion Tommy Fleetwood, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Ryan Fox, and Viktor Hovland. The event promises to be one of the most lucrative tournaments ever held in India, attracting a strong field of competitors.
Reflecting on his return, Donald expressed his excitement about competing in Delhi once again. He mentioned his positive experience from the previous year and looks forward to playing alongside other European Ryder Cup players. Lowry, who had a successful debut in 2025, expressed his eagerness to build on that performance and is excited to return to the India Championship.
The India Championship, launched in 2025, has quickly become a significant event on the international golfing calendar. With the largest prize purse for a DP World Tour event in India, the tournament has gained prominence.
