An Excise Department team was attacked in Patna district while returning from a raid against illegal liquor trade. The incident took place near Akhtiyarpur Bridge after the team had apprehended five individuals during the operation.
Fortunately, no injuries were sustained during the attack, and an investigation has been initiated by the Bihar Police. The team was on its way back to the Excise police station in a Scorpio vehicle following a raid in the Maharajganj Musahari area where the arrests were made.
The attackers allegedly targeted the vehicle near Akhtiyarpur Bridge, with a bullet hitting the Scorpio and passing through from the right-side door to the left-side door. The vehicle was transporting Home Guard jawan Prince Kumar Mishra, other excise personnel, and the arrested individuals, all of whom escaped unharmed.
Authorities suspect the attack was an attempt to free the detained suspects by individuals linked to the illegal liquor trade. However, the police are examining all angles and have not yet determined the exact nature of the incident. Local police are actively investigating the matter, questioning residents, gathering evidence, and determining the method of the attack.
Expressing concern over the incident, the Excise Department is collaborating with the police for a thorough investigation. The Station House Officer of Paliganj affirmed that appropriate legal action will be taken once the investigation is completed and the facts are clarified.
