The One District-One Product (ODOP) initiative, now covering over 770 districts as of December 2025, has transformed these areas into economic centers, supporting local farmers and artisans to cater to global markets. Each district under this scheme is identified with a unique product, receiving branding, market access, and institutional backing, leading to international trade exposure.
More than 1,200 ODOP products, spanning textiles, food, handicrafts, and minerals, are showcased on the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade’s digital platform. Market expansion is facilitated through digital platforms like the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and state-level e-commerce sites, enhancing sales and visibility for ODOP products.
The success of ODOP is attributed to its adaptable yet organized governance structure, driven by collaborative efforts between Central ministries, state governments, and district administrations. Products are chosen by states and Union Territories based on local ecosystems, with the final list shared with the DPIIT for implementation.
Through initiatives like the GeM-ODOP Bazaar, top-quality ODOP products from India are promoted on broader markets, empowering artisans and broadening market reach. The scheme offers interest-free support of Rs 5,000 crore, with a minimum of Rs 100 crore per state, to support artisans and entrepreneurs, alongside the establishment of 29 Unity Malls across 27 states.
Launched in 2018, the ODOP initiative began in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, known for brassware production expertise, and has since expanded nationwide, with Uttar Pradesh witnessing a 76% surge in exports from Rs 88,967 crore in 2017-18 to Rs 1.71 lakh crore in 2023-24. Notably, projects worth Rs 6,000 crore have been sanctioned under the ODOP margin money scheme, benefiting over 1.25 crore ODOP artisans with training and modern toolkits.
At the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) 2025, ODOP gained significant national and global exposure, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscoring how the initiative has facilitated the international reach of district-specific products from Uttar Pradesh. The ODOP Pavilion at UPITS 2025 featured 466 stalls, resulting in business leads and deals worth Rs 20.77 crore.
