Three individuals sustained injuries in an explosion that occurred in a residential building on rue Reverend-Pere-Louis-Frolla in Monaco around 9 pm on Monday. Reports suggest that the suspect fled towards France’s Beausoleil and is currently evading authorities. Following the blast, security personnel and emergency services swiftly responded to the scene. Surveillance footage revealed an individual leaving a backpack at the site before the explosion occurred.
Monaco’s Government confirmed that the injured parties, comprising two adults and a child, have been identified as Ukrainian and Russian nationals. Law enforcement promptly cordoned off the area, and the victims were promptly transported to a hospital in Nice, France. The Government mentioned that the suspect was captured on video surveillance cameras escaping towards Beausoleil in France, prompting the initiation of a judicial investigation.
In response to the incident, a pre-established emergency protocol known as “plan rouge” was activated in Monaco. This protocol allows for the mobilization of additional resources based on the severity of injuries sustained. Prince Albert II of Monaco described the explosion as a “shock” for the Monegasque community and expressed solidarity with the victims and their families. He commended the Public Security forces for their swift response and care for the victims.
