Exports of Ayush and herbal products have seen a 6.11% increase, rising from $649.2 million in 2023–24 to $688.89 million in 2024–25, as per the government’s announcement. This growth surge is attributed to the establishment of the Ayush Export Promotion Council (AYUSHEXCIL), which has boosted global outreach and met the rising international demand for India’s traditional medicine and herbal goods.
The Ayush Export Promotion Council (AYUSHEXCIL) celebrated its 4th Establishment Anniversary in New Delhi, emphasizing India’s endeavors to boost exports of traditional medicine and wellness products. AYUSHEXCIL has been proactive in enhancing exporters’ capabilities, streamlining export processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and organizing various events like B2B meetings, international exhibitions, seminars, and outreach programs in key global markets.
India’s traditional medicine systems (AYUSH) have gained formal recognition in bilateral trade agreements, such as the India-Oman CEPA and the India–New Zealand FTA, featuring dedicated sections on health services and traditional medicine. AYUSHEXCIL has taken charge of the Ayush Quality Mark program initiated by the Ministry of Ayush, a move supported by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 2nd WHO Summit on Traditional Medicine in December 2025, marking a significant step in enhancing quality assurance and global acknowledgment of AYUSH products.
As AYUSHEXCIL enters its fifth year, its focus is on strengthening international collaborations, utilizing Free Trade Agreement opportunities, promoting quality standards, and bolstering global acceptance of India’s traditional medicine systems. This anniversary highlights India’s increasing influence in the global AYUSH and wellness sector, aligning with the visions of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India. The Council operates in coordination with the Ministry of Ayush, with backing from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to oversee the export of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, Homeopathy, and other traditional Indian healthcare products and services.
