External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar participated in yoga activities in New Delhi on the 12th International Day of Yoga. He emphasized the importance of integrating yoga into daily life and future generations, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for widespread adoption of yoga.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Norway’s Ambassador to India May Elin-Stener also engaged in yoga sessions. May Elin-Stener extended greetings to mark the International Day of Yoga, highlighting the significance of yoga in promoting health, well-being, and balance.
This year’s theme for the 12th International Day of Yoga is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” focusing on the benefits of yoga across all age groups. The United Nations recognizes yoga as a practice that enhances physical abilities, mental well-being, and stress management, promoting balance, flexibility, strength, and mobility.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led national celebrations from Kolkata, stressing the need to embrace yoga as a lifelong pursuit. He urged individuals to incorporate yoga into their daily routines, families, and pass it on to future generations. The Prime Minister emphasized the initiative of Yoga 365, promoting yoga as a holistic lifestyle choice.
