The family of a girl who had her arm amputated following treatment at a ‘Sebaashray’ health camp lodged a formal complaint with the Diamond Harbour Police District Superintendent against Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee. They alleged that the wrong treatment received at the camp led to the amputation of the girl’s arm. Another family had previously filed a complaint against Banerjee for a similar incident at the same health camp.
A resident of Maheshtala in South 24 Parganas district had filed a complaint with the state health department after losing a leg due to incorrect treatment at the health camp. State Health Minister Sharadwat Mukherjee and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari reached out to the affected families to address the situation. The family of Kriti Manna from South 24 Parganas district claimed that their baby girl, suffering from a rare blood vessel disease, had her arm amputated after treatment at the camp.
The child’s treatment had commenced at various hospitals before being referred to AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. Financial constraints led the family to seek assistance from Abhishek Banerjee, who instead directed the child to the Sebaashray camp. Despite the family’s appeals for financial aid, the child’s condition worsened, resulting in the amputation of her arm in Delhi. Allegations also surfaced regarding the unauthorized use of the child’s image in advertisements without consent.
