In a distressing incident in Telangana, a family had to bear the body of their relative on their shoulders as a government hospital failed to provide a hearse vehicle. The incident took place in Bhadrachalam town, Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Kandi Venkanna, aged 45, who was being treated for heatstroke at the hospital, passed away due to the condition.
The family faced the ordeal as the hospital staff did not make arrangements for transporting the deceased. Owing to their financial constraints, they resorted to carrying the body themselves. Videos and images of this heartbreaking scene circulated widely on social media. Following public outcry, the district administration initiated an inquiry into the matter.
The incident has sparked outrage, with criticism directed at the authorities for the absence of a hearse service. Opposition parties, including the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), have condemned the Congress government for the lapse. T. Harish Rao from BRS questioned the government’s commitment to public welfare, citing instances of healthcare system failures.
