Family members of Twisha Sharma, who died due to alleged dowry issues, expressed gratitude towards the Madhya Pradesh government and the High Court. The High Court’s decision to order a CBI inquiry and a second post-mortem at AIIMS Delhi came after the family’s petition challenging a lower court’s ruling. Twisha’s cousin, Ashish Sharma, emphasized the need for prompt action by the authorities.
Twisha’s uncle, Lokesh Sharma, appreciated the MP government’s move for a CBI probe, stressing the importance of justice for the victim. He highlighted the significance of convicting influential individuals to uphold faith in the government and judiciary. Lokesh Sharma also called for equal application of the law to all, irrespective of their status or influence.
Alleging that crucial evidence might have been tampered with, Twisha’s family pushed for a CBI investigation due to suspicions surrounding the initial post-mortem. They accused AIIMS Bhopal doctors of favoring the accused family and raised concerns about the conduct of Twisha’s mother-in-law, a retired judge. The family sought intervention from the Uttar Pradesh government, where they belong, to ensure a fair investigation.
Twisha’s relatives pointed out discrepancies in the first post-mortem report, including inaccuracies in recording her height. Meanwhile, Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, who had been evading authorities, surrendered before a Jabalpur court. He was taken into custody by the Jabalpur police following Twisha’s demise at AIIMS Bhopal.
