Six members of a family tragically lost their lives in a car accident on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Hyderabad. The incident occurred when their car collided with a parked truck at Shamshabad, Exit 16. The speeding car rear-ended the truck, causing it to get wedged beneath the larger vehicle.
Police reported that the collision resulted in the immediate death of six individuals in the car, including two children and a woman. Another woman sustained critical injuries and was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Rescue efforts were challenging as emergency responders worked to extract the victims from the wreckage.
The deceased family, originally from Telangana’s Rajanna Sircilla district but residing in Hyderabad’s Sanathnagar area, were returning home after visiting the Yadagirigutta temple. Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing scene, mentioning the successful rescue of a distressed woman from the accident site. Authorities, including Chevella Deputy Commissioner of Police Yogesh Goutam, initiated an investigation into the incident, suspecting driver fatigue as a possible cause.
The tragic event adds to the growing number of fatal accidents on the ORR, a 158-km stretch that has claimed over 375 lives in the past five years. Concerns about road safety persist as authorities address the recurring incidents on this major roadway.
