A family from Ahmedabad is seeking urgent assistance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Gujarat government as their 23-year-old son, Dhvanit Rajdeep, a medical student in Georgia, has been missing for 12 days. Dhvanit, studying in the ninth semester at the Caucasus International University, last contacted his family on May 14 before his phone went off.
His father, Dr. Mayur Kumar Rajdeep, revealed that Dhvanit faced mental harassment from his landlord and roommates in Georgia. Allegedly, his roommates engaged in various forms of harassment, leading Dhvanit to decide to shift to a new accommodation.
Dr. Rajdeep claimed that tensions escalated when Dhvanit tried to move his belongings to the new flat, with his flatmate threatening him and demanding money. Despite giving money and returning the key to the previous flat, Dhvanit continued to face harassment.
The family also alleges that Dhvanit was coerced to transfer around $6,500 from his account while being confined in a room without access to his phone. Efforts have been made to locate him, including involving the Indian embassy and university authorities, as well as Dhvanit’s elder brother who has traveled from Canada to Georgia.
Dhvanit’s mother, Dharmishtha Rajdeep, emotionally appealed for help, emphasizing the need for government intervention to ensure her son’s safe return. Despite assistance from the Indian Embassy and local leaders, the family is yet to receive concrete updates and urges both the Centre and the Gujarat government to intensify diplomatic efforts for Dhvanit’s safe return.
