An incident at a courier service center in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval area led to panic when a family attempted to send an elderly man as a “human parcel” to draw attention to bus seat scarcity and rising fares during the festive season. The family, aiming for a viral social media stunt, later apologized as the situation escalated. The Bengaluru Police Commissioner has announced that a case will be filed against the family for the misguided act.

The family arrived at the courier office with a large sack, claiming it was a parcel, which upon opening revealed the distressed elderly man inside. The staff, shocked by the discovery, promptly alerted the police. The incident, captured on video, has since circulated widely on social media platforms.

The police investigation uncovered that the act was a planned stunt to showcase the challenges of securing bus tickets during upcoming festivals. The family, including the elderly man’s daughter, son-in-law, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law, intended to symbolically convey the scarcity of bus seats by “couriering a person.” The situation turned critical when the man was found struggling to breathe inside the sack, prompting concerns of suffocation.

Following the incident, the family issued a public apology, acknowledging the recklessness of their actions. They clarified that their aim was to raise awareness about the hardships faced by travelers due to high fares and limited bus services during festive periods. While seeking forgiveness, they assured that such behavior would not be repeated. However, the Bengaluru Police Commissioner emphasized that a case would be registered in connection with the incident.
