Choreographer and director Farah Khan shared on a chat show how Malaika Arora became part of the iconic song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ in Mani Ratnam’s “Dil Se..”. Initially, they considered many options before finalizing Malaika at the last moment. Farah mentioned her prior acquaintance with Malaika before filming the track.

In a last-minute decision, Farah reached out to Malaika despite uncertainties about her dancing abilities. Director Mani Ratnam left the choice to Farah, urging her to “Get anybody.” Ultimately, Malaika delivered a stunning performance in the ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ song.

The song, a part of the Bollywood movie “Dil Se..”, features lyrics adapted from “Tere Ishq Nachaya” by Bulleh Shah. A.R. Rahman composed the music, with lyrics by Gulzar, and vocals by Sukhwinder Singh and Sapna Awasthi. The track, known for its vibrant choreography, was performed on a moving train by Malaika and Shah Rukh Khan.
