In a tragic incident in West Bengal, a father and son were brutally murdered in the New Town area near Kolkata. The mother, critically injured in the attack, has been hospitalized. The gruesome crime is believed to have stemmed from a dispute over a piece of land within the family.
Authorities from the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate have taken several individuals into custody in connection with the killings and have initiated a thorough investigation. The victims were identified as Muzaffar Mistry, also known as Mona, aged 55, and his 26-year-old son, Bapi Mistry. The violent clash was reportedly triggered by construction activities on a contested plot of land in Patharghata, New Town.
Allegedly, the assailants, associated with the opposing party in the land dispute, launched a vicious attack on Muzaffar Mistry and his family earlier that day, resulting in fatal injuries. The victims were found grievously wounded and were rushed to Bidhannagar Sub-district Hospital, where the father and son were pronounced dead. Meanwhile, the mother remains in critical condition and is receiving medical treatment.
Following the incident, law enforcement officials, including senior personnel, swiftly responded to the scene. Multiple individuals have been apprehended for questioning as tensions run high in the vicinity. To maintain peace, a significant police presence has been deployed, and the bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem examinations as part of the ongoing investigation.
A senior officer from the Bidhannagar Police stated that the tragic deaths resulted from a sharp weapon attack, likely triggered by the long-standing land dispute between the two factions. Legal proceedings have commenced against the accused individuals, with several detained for interrogation as the investigation progresses.
