Navnidhi Sharma, father of the late Twisha Sharma, has written to Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel requesting the removal of Twisha’s mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, from the State Consumer Forum. Sharma expressed concerns that having an accused person like Singh in a quasi-judicial role could erode public trust in the impartiality of related institutions.
In his letter submitted on Wednesday, Sharma highlighted the potential impact of allowing someone facing criminal allegations to continue performing judicial duties during an ongoing investigation. He emphasized the importance of maintaining public confidence in the fairness and neutrality of legal processes connected to the case.
Twisha Sharma tragically passed away in what was reported as a suicide at her home in Bhopal on May 12. Following her death, an FIR was filed, naming Giribala Singh, a former Bhopal District Court judge currently serving as the Chairman of the Bhopal Consumer Court, and her son Samarth Singh as co-accused in the case. Navnidhi Sharma underscored the need for Singh to step aside temporarily to avoid any perception of influencing the investigative and legal proceedings.
