The father of Engineer Rashid, a Lok Sabha member from Jammu and Kashmir currently in jail, has died in Delhi. The Awami Itihaad Party (AIP), led by Engineer Rashid, has requested authorities to permit him to attend the funeral. Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, aged 85, was described as a revered teacher and a figure known for his commitment to education and social values.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss, the AIP’s chief spokesperson praised Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh for his virtues and unwavering support for Engineer Rashid. In an emotional plea, the party urged the government to release Rashid temporarily so he could bid farewell to his father.
