Favorable opinions of the US among Indians have decreased this year compared to last year, as per a survey by the US-based Pew Research Centre. The survey revealed that 45% of Indians held a positive view of the US, down from 54% the previous year. Additionally, 31% of Indians expressed a negative perception of the US.
The report highlighted that only 18% of Indians supported President Trump’s tariff policies, which had a significant impact on India before being blocked by the US Supreme Court. Confidence among Indians in Trump’s handling of world affairs also saw a decline from 52% last year to 39% this year, with 36% expressing no confidence in him on this matter.
Among Indian respondents, Russian President Vladimir Putin garnered the highest confidence level at 51%, followed by other world leaders like Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (34%), France’s President Emmanuel Macron (33%), Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky (20%), and China’s President Xi Jinping (25%).
