FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta is determined to secure the signing of Argentina international forward Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid. Laporta revealed that Barcelona has made a substantial offer to Atletico, emphasizing that the offer has a deadline and will not remain open indefinitely.
Atletico Madrid has taken a strong public stance against what they perceive as an improper pursuit of Alvarez by Barcelona. The player himself expressed his desire to leave in June, prompting Laporta to leverage Alvarez’s comments in the transfer negotiations. Laporta affirmed that if the deal for Julian Alvarez falls through, Barcelona has alternative options in mind.
Despite Real Madrid’s failed bid of 150 million euros for Alvarez, the forward reportedly prefers a move to FC Barcelona. Alvarez, who has scored 49 goals in 106 games for Atletico, seeks a fresh start after two trophy-less seasons with the club, finishing fourth in La Liga and facing defeats in major competitions.
