Spanish football club FC Barcelona has announced that young winger Lamine Yamal will be sidelined for the rest of the season because of a hamstring injury. However, the player is expected to recover in time for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, scheduled to start on June 11.
Yamal, aged 18, sustained an injury in the biceps femoris muscle of his left leg during Barcelona’s recent match against Celta Vigo. The club confirmed this through a medical update, stating that he will undergo a conservative treatment plan and miss the remaining games of the season.
Despite the setback, Yamal’s absence is a concern for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team, with important fixtures on the horizon. The young player’s performance has been exceptional this season, being a key contributor in terms of goals and assists for both club and country.
Barcelona’s head coach, Hansi Flick, expressed worry over Yamal’s injury, hoping for a swift recovery to have him back on the field soon. Additionally, the team faced another setback as defender Joao Cancelo picked up a thigh injury during the same game, requiring further evaluation.
