The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) expressed appreciation for the launch of the Market Access Support (MAS) intervention, considering it a strategic move to enhance India’s global export presence. This initiative, part of the Export Promotion Mission, aims to offer financial and institutional backing for various export-related activities like buyer-seller meets, trade fairs, exhibitions, and trade delegations. The MAS program, operating under the NIRYAT DISHA sub-scheme in collaboration with multiple government bodies and industry associations, emphasizes the participation of MSMEs, with small exporters receiving airfare support to encourage their engagement in global events.
The MAS framework also entails adjustments in financial support limits and cost-sharing ratios at events, with a focus on supporting priority sectors and markets. S C Ralhan, President of FIEO, highlighted that this intervention signifies a significant shift in India’s export promotion strategy towards more structured and result-oriented market access endeavors. The initiative addresses a persistent challenge faced by exporters, especially MSMEs, in accessing international markets, Ralhan noted. Additionally, FIEO welcomed the proposed introduction of Proof-of-Concept and Product Demonstration support, particularly for technology-driven sectors, alongside the gradual integration of advanced digital tools for market intelligence and exporter support.
According to Ralhan, MAS holds the potential to become a pivotal element in India’s export ecosystem, fostering enhanced buyer interactions, data-informed policy enhancements, and deeper integration of Indian exporters into global value chains. The digitization of processes through a government portal is set to ensure transparency, accessibility, and quicker approvals, with online feedback mechanisms and outcome evaluation tools aiding in aligning market access efforts with tangible business outcomes.
