The ongoing Monsoon session of the Maharashtra Assembly turned intense as the Opposition criticized the MahaYuti government for its handling of recent monsoon-related issues. Following heavy rains in Mumbai and Pune, resulting in fatal incidents, the Opposition launched a strong attack on the government’s preparedness. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis responded with detailed data in the Assembly, showcasing the unprecedented rainfall situation.
Chief Minister Fadnavis presented meteorological data highlighting the extreme rainfall levels in just a few days. He emphasized that a significant portion of Mumbai’s monsoon quota poured down in a short span, stressing the strain on the city’s drainage systems. Defending the flood-management infrastructure, he mentioned the deployment of numerous water pumps and pumping stations to tackle the waterlogging.
Fadnavis also addressed past controversies, asserting the completion of pre-monsoon desilting and removal of silt from the Mithi river. He criticized previous administrations for desilting scams and assured transparency in the current government’s actions. The Chief Minister defended the government’s execution of major projects, including the Mumbai-Pune Expressway extension, dismissing criticism and highlighting the government’s political will.
In a final poetic swipe at the Opposition’s governance approach, Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized the government’s bold decisions and successful project deliveries, silencing the critics in the Assembly.
