The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has suspended the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) due to violations of FIFA Statutes related to third-party interference. This decision follows a dispute over the governance of Nepali football, with ANFA previously facing a three-month suspension by Nepal’s National Sports Council, which was later lifted. ANFA has now lost all membership rights as defined in FIFA Statutes, prohibiting its participation in international competitions.
The suspension entails that Nepal’s national teams and clubs are barred from FIFA and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) competitions. Additionally, ANFA, its member bodies, and officials will no longer receive FIFA and AFC funding or benefit from development programs. The suspension can be lifted by the FIFA Council before the next FIFA Congress, with a reminder to avoid any sporting contact with ANFA during this period. FIFA Statutes hold member associations accountable for any violations, irrespective of third-party influence.
