Filmmaker Kiran Rao revealed she is currently battling chikungunya and is recuperating at home. She took to Instagram to update her followers, sharing a photo of herself resting with her cat by her side. Despite her illness, Rao remains positive and stressed the importance of taking precautions due to the severity of the symptoms.
Kiran mentioned that she is trying to stay positive by enjoying cards from friends and catching up on reading, albeit slowly due to joint pain. Chikungunya, a viral disease spread by infected mosquitoes, commonly presents with fever and joint pain. Kiran, known for her work in the film industry, shared insights into her career journey, including her collaborations with renowned directors and her own directorial ventures.
The filmmaker, who was previously married to actor Aamir Khan, began her career as an assistant director in notable films like “Lagaan” and “Swades: We, the People.” Kiran also delved into acting with a brief role in the popular movie “Dil Chahta Hai” before progressing to assistant director roles in acclaimed projects like “Monsoon Wedding.” She directed the film “Dhobi Ghat” under Aamir Khan Productions and even lent her voice to a Marathi song. Her film “Laapataa Ladies” was India’s submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards.
