A final-year MBBS student, Anishkar Chouhan, aged 21, from Salgar Thanda village, reportedly died by suicide at Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BRIMS) hostel. Initial investigations suggest that the student might have taken this extreme step due to losses in online games. Chouhan, who aspired to become a doctor, was found hanging in his room at the college hostel.
The incident, which occurred at BRIMS, was discovered when fellow students and hostel staff noticed Chouhan hanging from a ceiling fan. Police are conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the tragedy. Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gunti visited the scene to review the circumstances.
The tragic death has sparked concerns about online gaming addiction and mental health issues among students. Chouhan had reportedly lost approximately Rs 80,000 in online games, leading to significant distress. His family, devastated by the loss, had hoped for his successful medical career. They are preparing to file a complaint, and the police have assured that a case will be registered and thoroughly investigated.
