Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman praised the Indian community in France for their significant role in boosting India’s soft power and global relationships. She spoke at an event in Marseille, addressing the Indian diaspora and highlighting their contributions. Sitharaman also met with Indian professionals from Larsen & Toubro (L&T) involved in the ITER project, a major international nuclear fusion initiative.
During her visit, Sitharaman learned about India’s involvement in ITER, a collaborative effort among seven main member countries. She witnessed a presentation on India’s contributions to the project by key individuals. The Finance Minister toured the ITER facilities, acknowledging the dedication of engineers and scientists working on this groundbreaking nuclear fusion endeavor.
Appreciating the efforts of Indian scientists, engineers, and industry players like L&T, Inox India, and TCS, Sitharaman commended their contributions to the ITER project over the past two decades. Additionally, discussions between India and France focused on areas for enhanced bilateral cooperation, including critical minerals, economic sovereignty, and financial industry connections.
