Under the initiative ‘Your Money, Your Right’, a financial awareness campaign has successfully given back more than Rs 104 crore to original account holders in Gujarat. Launched in October 2025 from Gandhinagar, the campaign saw Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman kick-starting the drive at the national level.
As of December 31, 2025, Gujarat has witnessed the restoration of Rs 104.61 crore to beneficiaries, with 26,874 claims processed since the campaign’s inception. These funds, including unclaimed deposits, insurance proceeds, and pension amounts, are crucial savings for families, emphasizing the importance of reclaiming them for better financial security.
Nationally, significant unclaimed financial assets amounting to Rs 1.82 lakh crore persist, with various sectors like banking, insurance, and mutual funds holding substantial unclaimed sums. The return of these funds, including Rs 2,836.80 crore in public sector banks and Rs 235 crore in insurance companies in Gujarat, is easing financial burdens for many families.
The campaign in Gujarat, part of broader financial inclusion efforts in India, aims to ensure citizens receive their rightful funds through awareness programs and outreach activities. Coordinated by the Department of Financial Services in collaboration with regulatory bodies and financial institutions, the campaign has facilitated the return of Rs 104.61 crore to claimants by December 2025.
