A first information report (FIR) has been lodged against former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for allegedly making communally provocative statements at an election rally in central Kolkata. The FIR, based on a complaint filed by Tushar Kanti Das, was registered at the Hare Street Police Station. The complaint highlighted a statement made by Banerjee at a pre-election rally, expressing concerns about communal unity and potential unrest.
The complainant, without specifying any community, raised concerns about the speech’s potential to disrupt communal harmony. Describing the remarks as provocative and communal, the complaint emphasized the need for an impartial investigation to prevent any impact on public peace. Another FIR was recently filed against Banerjee in Darjeeling district for statements made regarding the Union Home Ministry and Home Minister Amit Shah.
