A fire broke out at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra Region of the UAE following a drone strike, as per local reports. Authorities in Abu Dhabi swiftly responded to the incident, which occurred in an electrical generator outside the plant’s inner perimeter. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and radiological safety levels remained unaffected.
The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) confirmed that the fire did not compromise the plant’s safety or operational readiness. All essential systems at the facility are functioning normally. Precautionary measures have been implemented, and the public is urged to rely on official sources for information and avoid spreading unverified details or rumors.
Despite the incident, the statement did not disclose the source of the drone strike. Earlier in the month, the UAE reported missile and drone activities allegedly originating from Iran. However, Iran’s military command denied any involvement in such operations against the UAE, emphasizing that no missile or drone attacks were conducted.
The UAE’s Ministry of Defence previously stated that its air defense intercepted numerous ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and UAVs launched from Iran. Since the onset of these attacks, the UAE’s air defenses have successfully engaged a significant number of projectiles, showcasing the country’s defense capabilities.
