A fire erupted in a general coach of the Jaynagar-Udhna Express at Madhubani railway station, completely destroying the compartment. The incident occurred while the coach was stationed on Platform No 3 for maintenance work, with thick black smoke and flames suddenly emerging. Fortunately, no passengers were inside the coach at the time, as it had been under maintenance for two days.
People at the station noticed the fire and promptly informed the Station Master. Fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene, but a significant portion of the coach had already been damaged by the time they arrived. Despite this, firefighters managed to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other coaches.
Jyoti Prakash Mishra, the Divisional Railway Manager of the Samastipur Railway Division, visited the site following the incident. He inspected the damage, requested detailed reports from railway officials, and announced the formation of a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the cause of the fire. Initial suspicions point towards a short circuit as the likely trigger, pending the completion of the inquiry report.
