A fire broke out in a building’s parking lot in Delhi’s Fateh Nagar area, spreading to all four floors. Fortunately, all residents were safely evacuated, and no casualties were reported. Police and Fire Service personnel quickly responded to the incident on July 21 after a PCR call was received at Hari Nagar Police Station.
The fire, believed to have started due to a short circuit in the parking area, engulfed the entire residential building. Despite challenges with narrow lanes hindering fire tenders’ access, a successful rescue operation was carried out using ladders to rescue trapped residents.
During the evacuation, a woman named Sakshi, aged 40, was saved from injury when she attempted to jump from the first floor and was caught safely on mattresses arranged by the police staff. An elderly couple on the third floor, one of whom had recently undergone hip replacement surgery, were also successfully persuaded to evacuate with the help of police personnel.
As the fire intensified, two LPG cylinders on the top floor ignited but caused no harm to residents. A total of nine individuals were rescued from the building, with one police officer sustaining a minor leg injury during the evacuation process. Authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
