The annual Hindu festival is held at the Vadakkunnathan Temple in Thrissur, Kerala, attracting over a million visitors each year. The incident occurred at a shed associated with the festival’s fireworks arrangements, leading to a massive fire and causing panic in the vicinity.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has mobilized government resources for immediate rescue and medical aid, ensuring specialized treatment for the critically injured. The rescue operations, overseen by a dedicated system, involve collaborative efforts from the Police, Fire and Rescue Services, Health Department, Revenue Department, and Disaster Management authorities. Health Minister Veena George has directed the preparation of special medical facilities at Thrissur General Hospital and other nearby hospitals to handle the casualties.
