The initial group of Haj 2026 pilgrims left Delhi Airport for Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday. Kausar Jahan, Chairperson of the Delhi Haj Committee, bid them farewell at the airport. One pilgrim expressed gratitude for the opportunity to undertake Haj this year and requested prayers for a successful journey.
Another pilgrim praised the well-organized arrangements in India and looked forward to the upcoming arrangements in Saudi Arabia. A total of 1,75,025 pilgrims are anticipated to participate in the annual pilgrimage this year. Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, extended best wishes to the pilgrims and emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and secure Haj experience.
Several new initiatives have been introduced for Haj 2026, including enhanced digital services through the Haj Suvidha App and the introduction of smart wristbands to assist pilgrims. This year, a short-duration Haj option of around 20 days has been made available for increased flexibility. The government has also raised insurance coverage to approximately Rs 6.25 lakh per pilgrim to enhance financial and health security during the journey.
