As the first BJP-led Cabinet in West Bengal is set to be sworn in on Saturday morning, Suvendu Adhikari, the next Chief Minister, expressed that the oath ceremony with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance will signify a historic moment for the state. Adhikari emphasized that this event marks the conclusion of the Trinamool Congress regime’s 15-year rule and heralds a new phase for West Bengal under BJP leadership, aiming for development, peace, and prosperity.
The oath-taking ceremony, scheduled at Brigade Parade Ground in central Kolkata today, will be overseen by West Bengal Governor Ravi in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Ministers from other BJP-ruled states, members of the Union Cabinet, and prominent central BJP leaders. The event will also reveal the composition of Adhikari’s new Cabinet, which will be based at the old state secretariat of Writers’ Building in central Kolkata.
Adhikari has emphasized a shift towards “collective leadership,” stating that decisions will not be solely his but made collectively within the Cabinet. He highlighted the importance of a harmonious Centre-state relationship and coordination in governing the state, distinguishing his approach from that of his predecessor, Mamata Banerjee.
