Princee Rani, an IPS officer from the Tripura cadre, has been named as the new Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) Tripura Frontier, taking over from the current IG, Aloke Kumar Chakraborty. This appointment comes after her husband, Parshant Kumar Goyal, an IAS officer, returned from central deputation to serve as Secretary in the Tripura administration, overseeing the Public Works Department and Finance Department.
Princee Rani’s selection as the first female IG of the BSF’s Tripura Frontier is a significant achievement. With a background as a 2005-batch IPS officer, she brings a wealth of experience in administrative and internal security roles. Prior to joining the BSF, she held key positions in the Tripura Police, including Deputy Inspector General of Traffic, overseeing the Superintendent of Police (Traffic) and Superintendent of Police (GRP), Tripura.
Recognized for her contributions to national security and law enforcement, Princee Rani has received accolades such as the Medal for Meritorious Service for her dedicated and distinguished career. Having previously served as Inspector General of the National Security Guard (NSG), she is set to assume her new role as IG of the BSF Tripura Frontier in the near future.
Tripura, sharing an 856-km border with Bangladesh and surrounded by the neighboring country on three sides, faces significant challenges related to cross-border migration, illegal activities, smuggling, and trans-border crimes.
