Five individuals, including Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, tragically lost their lives in a plane crash in Baramati. The aircraft, a Learjet 45 (registration VT-SSK) operated by VSR, was carrying Deputy CM Pawar, a personal security officer, an attendant, and two crew members. The deceased have been identified as Vidip Jadhav, Pinky Mali, Pilot-in-Command Sumit Kapur, and Second-in-Command Shambhavi Pathak.

Amid elections for Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar was en route from Mumbai to Baramati for a public event. Emergency services and security officials promptly responded to the crash site in Baramati, with rescue operations initiated immediately after the aircraft encountered difficulties during landing.

The bodies of the victims were taken to Baramati Medical College for identification, as confirmed by the Pune Superintendent of Police. A team from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also arrived at the crash site for investigation. Locals who witnessed the crash rushed to the scene, with further details on the incident awaited.

This unfortunate event follows previous aviation incidents involving the leader, including a helicopter crash in Pune in October 2024 and emergency landings due to adverse weather conditions in the region.
