Five engineering students tragically drowned in the Godavari River in Andhra Pradesh’s Polavaram district. The incident occurred when a group of seven students from SRM Engineering College, Amaravati, entered the river for a bath. Unfortunately, five students were swept away by the water while two managed to reach the riverbank safely.

Local residents, along with authorities, initiated a search operation for the missing students. Three bodies have been recovered and identified as C. Srikar, P. Abhiram, and Navdeep. The search is ongoing for the remaining two missing students, Goka Teja and Pasham Satish Kumar.

The students, all pursuing second-year B. Tech at SRM College, were on a holiday trip to the region during Ugadi. Two students from Andhra Pradesh, Chanduri Deepak and Gaddam Harshvardhan, were among those who safely reached the riverbank. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and directed officials to intensify search efforts for the missing students.
