Five individuals lost their lives, and over 20 others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district. The incident occurred when a passenger bus traveling from Kurdeg in Jharkhand to Kunkuri lost control and overturned. The bus, identified by registration number CG 14 G 0263, reportedly faced brake failure while descending a slope in Godamba village.
Local residents promptly responded to the accident, alerting authorities and utilizing earth-moving equipment to rescue passengers trapped in the overturned bus. Among the passengers onboard were a husband and wife, as well as a father with his infant son. The deceased were identified as Mahesh Ram (45) and Bimla (42) from Makribandha village, Sampati Devi (52) from Simdega district, Digeshwar (40) from Dhodhi village, and Ghanshyam, a five-month-old infant.
Following the crash, five critically injured individuals were transferred to Ambikapur Medical College for specialized care, while others received treatment at local medical facilities. Collector Rohit Vyas confirmed the details of the tragic incident, as investigations into the accident’s cause are ongoing. Additionally, Kaushalya Devi Sai, wife of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, visited the injured at Kunkuri hospital to ensure they received the necessary care and facilities.
