A concerning incident has been reported from Bihar’s Begusarai district, where five minor girls have disappeared from a government-run girls’ shelter home in the Ratanpur police station area. The incident has led to heightened alarm within the administration, prompting an extensive search operation by the police.
The girls were discovered missing on a Sunday morning, following which the shelter home authorities promptly alerted the police. The district administration has treated the situation with utmost seriousness, issuing alerts across Begusarai. Superintendent of Police (SP) Manish visited the shelter home personally to assess the situation and questioned the staff to ascertain the circumstances of the girls’ departure.
Special investigation teams have been formed by the police to locate the missing minors. Search efforts are underway in the district and surrounding areas, with scrutiny of CCTV footage from the shelter home and nearby locations for potential leads. Technical surveillance and digital evidence are also being utilized in the investigation, with coordination between the district police, District Child Protection Unit, and Child Welfare Committee.
Authorities are intensifying search operations at transportation hubs and other possible locations where the girls could have gone. The safe recovery of the minors remains the top priority, with all angles, including negligence, abduction, or planned escape, being examined. Despite ongoing efforts, there has been no breakthrough in locating the girls, raising concerns about security measures at the shelter home.
