At least five individuals tragically lost their lives in a horrific incident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Alwar district. The passengers, including three women, a young girl, and a man from Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh, were unable to escape as their car suddenly caught fire while en route from Delhi to Kota. The driver, Vinod Kumar Mehar, managed to escape but sustained severe burns, currently receiving critical treatment.
The devastating accident occurred near Pillar Number 115/300 under the Maujpur police station limits around midnight. The car, for unknown reasons, caught fire rapidly, engulfing the entire vehicle before anyone could react. Local authorities, including the NHAI patrolling team and firefighters, responded promptly to the scene after receiving alerts from residents.
Vinod Kumar Mehar, who hails from Sheopur like the passengers, suffered extensive burn injuries, amounting to approximately 80%. Despite his escape, the car was completely destroyed by the fire, leaving behind a charred wreck. Following the incident, senior officials, including Deputy Superintendent of Police Kailash Jindal and Superintendent of Police Sudhir Chaudhary, visited the site to evaluate the situation and provide necessary instructions.
Efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased passengers and ascertain the exact cause of the fire, as the investigation continues to uncover more details surrounding this tragic event.
