Former Australian skipper Aaron Finch commended Samson Sanju for his seamless integration into the Chennai Super Kings team, describing him as the superstar the team had been anticipating. Samson, who joined from Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, initially struggled in the IPL 2026 with three low scores in losses but has since turned it around with three fifty-plus scores in seven innings, notably an unbeaten 87 off 52 balls against Delhi Capitals.
Finch highlighted the initial pressure on Samson, stating that a couple of poor performances at the start should not overshadow his potential for consistent success throughout the season. Samson, the Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup, currently boasts 402 runs in ten innings at an impressive average of 57.42 and a strike rate of 167.50.
Despite the early challenges, Finch emphasized Samson’s resilience and the pride he carries as a marquee signing for CSK. He acknowledged the expectations placed on Samson to deliver as the team’s much-needed superstar and praised his elevated batting performance. Following their victory against Delhi Capitals, CSK sits in sixth place in the standings, trailing the second to fifth-ranked teams by just two points.
