Former BJP state president K. Surendran criticized the Congress, claiming that the party’s habit of making ambitious election pledges and then neglecting them after winning has become its political norm. He highlighted instances in Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal Pradesh where commitments to women and citizens were allegedly unmet post-elections. Surendran specifically pointed to the Congress’s backtrack on the KSRTC free travel promise for women in Kerala, restricting it to ordinary buses with only a trial run proposed.
Accusing the Congress government in Kerala of deceiving voters, Surendran emphasized the discrepancy between pre-election promises and post-election actions. He also called out the Congress for its handling of the Sabarimala gold theft case, alleging a shift in stance from opposition to governance. Surendran criticized the government for not fulfilling its pledge to investigate the case using central agencies, indicating a lack of transparency.
Surendran further accused the government of failing to address the concerns of Ayyappa devotees involved in the Sabarimala women’s entry protests. He condemned the Congress for its alleged double standards towards believers and highlighted the increasing human-wildlife conflicts in Kerala’s hill regions. Surendran pointed out the government’s inadequacy in adopting modern technologies to mitigate wildlife attacks, contrasting it with other states’ proactive measures.
