The body of Rakesh Mahato, former chairman of the Giridih Zila Parishad, was discovered in a partially burned state in Jharkhand’s Giridih district. Authorities suspect foul play based on the condition of the body and evidence at the scene, indicating a possible murder. Initial investigations reveal attempts to conceal the crime by setting the body on fire using forest debris.

Police teams from Nimiaghat and Dumri stations swiftly responded to the incident in the Khankhi forest. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the cause and time of death. While the motive behind the murder remains unclear, authorities are exploring all possible angles and conducting a thorough investigation.

Rakesh Mahato, a prominent political figure in the Dumri region, served as the elected chairman of the Giridih Zila Parishad following the 2016 district council elections. His brutal killing has sparked sorrow and outrage among family members and local residents, leading to demands for swift action and justice. District officials and political leaders have called for a comprehensive inquiry to identify the perpetrators and ensure accountability.

Giridih Superintendent of Police Dr. Bimal Kumar has instructed authorities to expedite the investigation and take decisive action in response to the tragic incident. SDPO Sumit Kumar affirmed the recovery of the body from Khankhi forest and assured the public of the police’s dedicated efforts to pursue all leads in the case.
