Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed concern over the prolonged delays in the multi-level parking project on Nai Sadak in Jodhpur, labeling it as a reflection of the BJP government’s tendency towards procrastination and negligence.
The project, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and parking issues, was initiated in 2013 with a capacity for 675 vehicles. Despite an allocation of Rs 28 crore and identification of suitable land, the project has languished, drawing criticism from Gehlot for what he perceives as deliberate neglect by the BJP administration.
Gehlot highlighted that during the Congress regime, efforts were made to revive the project in 2018, and despite setbacks due to the Covid-19 pandemic, work recommenced in 2022. However, he criticized the current government for citing financial constraints as a reason for halting progress, leading to an extension of the project deadline to 2026.
The former Chief Minister questioned the government’s priorities, pointing out that even essential infrastructure like the police control room has been affected by budgetary issues. He accused the BJP of failing in financial management and neglecting the basic needs of the people of Jodhpur, emphasizing that the delays exemplify a governance style centered on postponement rather than efficient execution.
