Former Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam criticized Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, alleging that the Congress leadership obstructed Sachin Pilot’s path to becoming Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Krishnam highlighted a rift within the party, emphasizing that the conflict stemmed from decisions made by the Congress leadership in Delhi.
The ongoing power struggle between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot gained renewed attention after Gehlot clarified that the political turmoil in September 2022 was not a rebellion against the Congress high command but a result of internal party disagreements over Pilot potentially replacing him as Chief Minister. Gehlot also mentioned a “big conspiracy” hindering his elevation to Congress president.
Krishnam claimed that Pilot was never seriously considered for the top post in Rajasthan, asserting that Gehlot was deliberately projected as the primary leader. He accused Rahul Gandhi and associates of intentionally blocking Pilot’s promotion and questioned the lack of disciplinary action against Gehlot during the state’s political crisis.
Krishnam further criticized Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, suggesting that opposition parties doubted his effectiveness. He expressed concerns about the Congress party’s internal divisions and its organizational future, indicating a growing perception within the opposition that challenging the BJP under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership might be unfeasible.
